Then I noticed that I was crackling the same way. Metal, it turns out, is a fantastic conductor of electricity, and the lightning in the storm was drawn to the sword. A fallen broadsword crackled with electric light on the ground. Once again, I made my way up the ramp, fought the bokoblins, and then noticed something. The lightning crackled around me, and then suddenly-after a fairly swift victory over my foes-it struck, killing me instantly.

I made my way up into the nearby hills, and found myself battling against bokoblins as I made my way up a winding, wooden staircase. Then a huge, bright, electric explosion hit nearby, scorching the ground. At first it was just thunder and flashes. The rain had picked up in earnest and the world was awash in grey when the lightning storm began.

Giant bones, like the rib cage of some gargantuan whale, long ago beached and picked clean, sprung up on all sides.

I was making my way into uncharted territory and found myself jogging along what appeared to be some kind of quay. Finding none, I leaped off into the air and flew back down to the plain below with my paraglider, landing quite stylishly on my new horse and riding off into the sunset. A moment later I climbed up a high ladder to investigate a platform far up off the ground to see if there was treasure there. The beast was already tame, so I didn't need to calm its nerves. He toppled off of his steed and I hopped on. The monster charged, and I whipped out my bow, took aim (using the Switch's intuitive motion controls) and sent an arrow into the creature's forehead. And then, across the grass, came a bokoblin astride a spotted mare, club swinging about his head.

A shallow spread out between the mountains and the plain. A wide field lay under the shadow of a rise of craggy peaks. I was wandering somewhat aimlessly through a rainy valley. You'll repeat this process until you've tamed your new mount, though you'll quickly find that your new travelling companion has a will of its own, refusing to do what you want until you've bonded.īut that's not how I got my first horse. This involves sneaking up behind one, leaping on its back, and then soothing it as your stamina wheel drops. In Breath of the Wild, you get your horse by capturing one in the wild.
